Whython? Because Python
Law Institute Victoria - 470 Bourke Street, Melbourne
Registrations are now open for Whython? Because Python will save you time! With Jonathan Garber, Python Research Community Coordinator at The University of Melbourne.
Tuesday 31 July, 1-2pm
Law Institute Victoria, Lecture Theatre, 470 Bourke St, Melbourne.
Python is an incredibly versatile and popular computer programming language.
How versatile is it? You can use Python to make the next Google, or just automate the boring stuff like reorganising files on your computer, sorting and combining spreadsheets, and drafting emails. One of the reasons Python is so popular is because it is a computer programming language designed for people to read and understand, not just computers. This makes it easy to learn.
In one hour Jonathan Garber will:
1) De-mystify computer programming, showing you that it is not that different from using any other piece of software
2) Showcase some of the powerful functionality that Python has by hacking a game show!
3) Tell you where to go next to continue learning Python to "automate the boring stuff"
This will be a hands on, informative session, so bring your laptop. A light lunch will also be provided.
